FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
CIRCUIT BREAKERS, MOLDED CASE; BRANCH CIRCUIT AND SERVICE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this federal specification by all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the general requirements and test procedures for molded case circuit breakers which fall within the general parameters specified in table XVI which are specifically designed to provide service-entrance, feeder, meter-service, or branch circuit protection and rated at not more than 4,000 amperes and
600 volts ac, 60 hertz (Hz) (see 3.1 and 6.1).
1.2 Classification. Circuit breakers furnished under this specification shall be of the following types, as specified
(see 3.1).
Types:
I - Uncompensating thermal magnetic
II - Ambient compensating thermal magnetic
III - Magnetic
IV - Fused
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness of this list, document users are cautioned that they must meet all specified requirements of documents cited in sections 3 and 4 of this specification, whether or not they are listed.
